BMW Team RLL has unveiled the design for Lucas Luhr’s M6 GTLM ahead of its 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship campaign.
Luhr, who claimed a victory and numerous podiums with the team last season, will partner John Edwards, Graham Rahal and Kuno Wittmer behind the wheel of the #100 machine, a number chosen in honour of BMW’s centenary.
The #100 M6 GTLM’s striking livery incorporates a range of design elements that celebrate the future of BMW, including intricate graphics highlighting the Bavarian manufacturer’s ‘Next 100 Years’ theme.
Its distinctive appearance is enhanced by a novel 3D latticework design across the entire body, which, according to BMW, bears a significance that will become clear later on in the year.
Lucas will debut the new-look car and get his 2016 title challenge underway at Daytona’s Rolex 24 this weekend, with the race itself starting on Saturday 30 January at 14:30 local time.
