Another weekend to forget for Luhr at Lime Rock Park
It was a tough start to the weekend as Lucas Luhr’s BMW Team RLL co-driver John Edwards qualified eighth at Lime Rock Park, after issues with the car in first practice meant they had limited time to fine-tune the car’s set-up.
With overtaking a premium around the 2.41km circuit, it was always going to be difficult to get ahead of their rivals, but both were optimistic of challenging those in front.
Edwards took the start in the #100 BMW M6 GTLM, but on lap five he was sent spinning into the tyre wall after being hit by another competitor. They were forced to retire the car with Lucas unable to get a lap in.
Having celebrated his birthday on the Friday it certainly wasn’t the present Lucas was hoping for, but now he looks ahead to Round 8 as the series heads to Wisconsin for the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase (August 5-7).
